Heavy Rain Causes Flooding, Road Closures in Calgary

CALGARY – Heavy rainfall has led to significant flooding across Calgary, prompting road closures and concerns about hazardous conditions. The downpour, which began Monday night, was expected to bring an additional 10 to 20 millimeters of rain by Tuesday, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). The rain is anticipated to taper off by tonight.

Due to the flooding, Calgary Police closed Stoney Trail between Glenmore Trail and 90 Avenue Southwest this morning. Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution and avoid flooded areas.

Despite the current wet conditions, the forecast for Calgary shows a significant improvement later in the week. While today’s high is expected to reach only 11 degrees Celsius, ECCC predicts a jump to 22 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and a warmer 27 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
