Drone Attack on Kindergarten in Sudan Kills 50, Including 33 Children

Khartoum: A kindergarten in the town of Kaloghi in central-southern Sudan was reportedly destroyed in a drone attack carried out by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Hospital sources have confirmed that the attack resulted in the deaths of 50 people, including 33 children. Additionally, paramedics who arrived to conduct rescue operations were targeted in a second attack.

The Emergency Lawyers rights group strongly condemned the attack on civilians, calling it a violation of international law. The group also warned that the final death toll is likely to rise due to ongoing communication disruptions in the region.

The intensity of the conflict is now spreading to the Kordofan state. A UNICEF representative highlighted that killing children in a school constitutes a horrific violation of their rights.

The war, which began in 2023, has already claimed the lives of over 40,000 people and displaced 12 million individuals. The UN human rights chief has warned that attacks similar to those seen in El-Fasher could potentially occur in Kordofan as well.
