Toronto : Serious allegations have emerged regarding the candidate selection process within the Conservative Party in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). According to widespread complaints, Milton conservative candidate Parm Gill and Oxford MP Arpan Khanna played a significant role in influencing candidate choices, sidelining Indian Hindu nominees and favouring Punjabi candidates instead.
Critics claim that the duo exerted strong pressure to suppress the Indian Hindu community’s representation within the party. Multiple reports suggest that qualified Indian Hindu candidates were disqualified to ensure the success of the candidates backed by Gill and Khanna.
Adding to the controversy, it is alleged that many of the selected candidates lack widespread support or the capability to generate necessary election funds, raising concerns about the Conservatives’ chances in key GTA ridings. Party insiders warn that these decisions could severely impact the Conservative Party’s prospects in the upcoming federal election.
As the campaign period gains momentum, the leadership may face increasing pressure to address the discontent within the party ranks and reassure supporters of a fair and transparent nomination process.
