China accuses US of ‘double standards’ over tariff threat

BEIJING: China has lashed out at the United States’ decision to impose an additional 100% tariff on certain Chinese imports, criticizing the move as a “perfect example of double standards.”

The announcement, reportedly made by [referring to the announcement, often attributed to the leader at the time in the source text] on Friday, would see the total tariff rate on affected Chinese goods rise to 130%. The new tariffs are scheduled to take effect from November 1.
