Chicopee Ski Resort Rushes to Open by December 20th, Kicking Off Early Season

KITCHENER – Ski enthusiasts are celebrating the anticipation of the first major snowfall as the Chicopee Ski and Summer Resort in the Waterloo Region gears up for an early start to the season. Despite the challenges posed by heavy snow in late November, local ski resorts have benefited, paving the way for Chicopee to target a December 20th opening.

This marks the resort’s 91st season, and the planned start date is approximately a week earlier than last year.

The resort announced through its social media channels that staff are engaged in final preparations for the season. Guests can pick up their season passes, access cards, and lesson tags at the resort. Additionally, services for sharpening and waxing ski equipment are available.

Resorts outside the Waterloo Region are also preparing for early openings, with several dates already set:

  • Mount St. Louis Moonstone: December 5
  • Horseshoe Valley Resort: December 5
  • Blue Mountain: December 11
  • Snow Valley: December 12

Resort authorities are optimistic that many people will flock to the slopes for skiing as temperatures continue to drop and the cold weather settles in.
