CBSA Launches Probe Against 96 Foreign Nationals Over Crimes Targeting South Asian Community in B.C.

VANCOUVER: The British Columbia (BC) Extortion Task Force has announced that border agents have initiated investigations into 96 foreign nationals in connection with crimes targeting the South Asian community in the province.

The Task Force confirmed that the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has, so far, removed five foreign nationals from the country as part of the ongoing crackdown.

Key Conspirator Arrested

The Task Force further revealed that it is engaging with international authorities, including police in Delhi, regarding the arrest of a principal conspirator connected to a series of shootings that occurred at Cabs Cafe in Surrey.

The arrested individual has been identified as Bandhu Maan Singh Sekhon, a key figure in the Goldy Dhillon–Lawrence Bishnoi gang. According to the Task Force, Sekhon had fled to India following the arrest of several of his associates in a police operation in British Columbia.

The investigation underscores the coordinated effort between provincial law enforcement and federal border services to address organized criminal activity and threats directed at community members in B.C.
