OTTAWA: Prime Minister Mark Carney has pledged to include Métis representatives in key initiatives aimed at strengthening the economy. He stated that the goal is to further fortify Canada’s economy amidst trade disputes with the US. Carney made these remarks during a meeting with Métis leaders to discuss legislation for key federal government projects.
Margaret Froh, President of the Métis Nation of Ontario, and Andrea Sandmaier, President of the Métis Nation of Alberta, welcomed the meeting. They stated that the Métis people and the government will work together for the progress of Canada. Following the meeting, Indigenous Services Minister Mandy Gull-Masty assured that further discussions would be held with Métis leaders.
