Carney condemns Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s energy during call with Zelenskyy

OTTAWA: Prime Minister Mark Carney spoke by phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently to discuss the latest wave of Russian attacks targeting Ukraine’s critical energy infrastructure. Carney condemned the Russian actions against the power facilities and pledged support for Ukraine’s defense infrastructure.

The call followed a widespread drone and missile assault launched by Russia on Friday, specifically aimed at Ukraine’s energy distribution hubs. The attacks resulted in widespread power outages across several parts of the country.

Tragically, the strikes also led to civilian casualties, with one child confirmed killed and 20 other individuals sustaining injuries.

Prime Minister Carney’s condemnation underscores the international outrage over the deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure during the conflict, as Canada reaffirms its commitment to providing essential aid to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
