Canadian passport outranks US in global power index

Ottawa: The Canadian passport has surpassed the US passport in the ranking of the world’s most powerful passports. However, in the overall global passport ranking, the Canadian passport, which previously held the seventh position, has slipped to eighth place, now alongside Estonia and the UAE.

As one of the top ten most powerful passports globally, Canadian passport holders enjoy the privilege of visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to numerous countries around the world. Canadian passport holders can visit 184 countries without a visa, benefiting from visa-free access, visa-on-arrival, or Electronic Travel Authorizations (ETAs). In contrast, the US passport, offering visa-free travel to 182 countries, is now ranked tenth.

Singapore continues to hold the top spot as the world’s most powerful passport, maintaining its number one position by allowing visa-free visits to 193 countries. Japan and South Korea share the second position, while Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and Spain are all tied for third place.
