Canada Post says no more meetings currently scheduled with union

OTTAWA: Negotiations between Canada Post and the union representing postal workers are reportedly in a state of uncertainty. The Crown Corporation has announced that no meetings with the union have been scheduled as of Tuesday afternoon. In talks last week, Canada Post requested that the union reconsider its offers, taking into account the issues the company is facing.

A Canada Post spokesperson suggested that the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) should step forward to end the strike, which is proving to be a setback for both employees and customers.

After a vote conducted by the Canada Industrial Relations Board in July, CUPW rejected the final offers that Canada Post had presented in May. Following this, the union put forward a new offer for postal workers to Canada Post. Canada Post says that after a meeting with a federal mediator on August 27, the union’s offer contained proposals that would increase the company’s costs.
