Montreal: The by-election in the Arthabaska riding in Centre-du-Québec will take place on August 11. The Legault government will officially launch hostilities later Tuesday, The Canadian Press confirmed. The by-election was made necessary following the resignation of Eric Lefebvre, who was elected last April as a Conservative Party of Canada MP.
The contest is expected to be a tough fight between Éric Duhaime, leader of the Conservative Party of Quebec (PCQ), and Alex Boissonneault, a former Radio-Canada host running for the Parti Québécois (PQ). François Legault’s Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ), for its part, is counting on Keven Brasseur, a former president of the party’s youth commission.
Québec Solidaire (QS) has announced Pascale Fortin, a healthcare professional, will represent their party. Only the Quebec Liberal Party has yet to announce its candidate.
