Air Canada flight attendants to protest at airports

TORONTO – Air Canada flight attendants are set to stage protest demonstrations at four major airports across the country today, demanding better wages and working conditions.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), which represents the flight attendants, announced that protests will take place at 1 PM at Montreal’s Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, Toronto Pearson International Airport, Vancouver International Airport, and Calgary International Airport. CUPE stated that the demonstrations are being organized to secure improved wages, benefits, and working conditions.

Following a vote held last Tuesday, flight attendants are likely to go on a 72-hour strike on August 16. The employees are preparing for a strike as contract negotiations, which began at the start of the year, have not been successful.
