Mark Carney visits troops at Ādaži Military Base in Latvia

Riga: Prime Minister Mark Carney, who arrived in Latvia, visited troops. The visit was part of Operation Reassurance, a mission deploying soldiers from various countries in Europe’s eastern region to deter Russian aggression.

Addressing the troops, Mark Carney said that the importance of this mission has increased in the context of the Ukraine war. He also announced that Operation Reassurance would be extended for another three years until 2029.

This largest foreign military mission consists of 2,000 Canadian troops. Canada leads Operation Reassurance. The Prime Minister, who visited the military base facilities, was briefed by the soldiers on the use of drones, tanks, and other equipment.
