Ottawa: Habibi brand Pistachio Kernels have been recalled due to potential Salmonella contamination. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) announced that the affected product was sold to hotels, restaurants, and other commercial establishments in Ontario and Quebec. The product, distributed by Green Farm Pistachio Inc., comes in 10 kg packages with lot code 361.24IR41.
The agency has advised consumers to avoid serving or consuming the affected product. Consumers should discard the product or return it to the store where it was purchased. Consuming products contaminated with Salmonella bacteria can lead to serious illnesses. Young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems are at a higher risk of severe health consequences. Common symptoms include fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea.
Currently, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the consumption of these pistachios. However, the federal agency urges anyone experiencing symptoms of Salmonella infection to seek medical attention immediately.
