Toronto: The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) will disburse the next monthly installment of the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) on Friday, September 18. While payments are typically processed on the 20th of each month, the date has been moved earlier because the 20th falls on a Sunday.
This installment marks the third payment of the new benefit year. To help families cope with inflation, the CRA implemented a 2 percent increase in CCB amounts starting in July.
Under the updated rate structure, eligible families can receive up to a maximum of CAD 679.75 per month for children under the age of 6, and up to CAD 573.58 per month for children aged 6 to 17. The exact payment amount is calculated based on adjusted family net income.
For the current benefit year, payment calculations are based on 2025 tax returns. Families with a total net income below CAD 38,237 are eligible for the maximum benefit amount, while those earning above this threshold will see phased reductions based on their total earnings.
To ensure uninterrupted CCB payments, parents must file their annual tax returns on time. The benefit is available to Canadian citizens and permanent residents who are the primary caregivers of dependent children, subject to specific eligibility criteria.
Recipients are advised to report any changes in residential address, marital status, or banking information to the CRA immediately. Beneficiaries can check their exact payment breakdown online through their “CRA My Account,” with funds credited directly for those enrolled in direct deposit.
