Halifax: A new application fee has been introduced under the Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program (NSPNP). Candidates selected for assessment under worker streams—including Skilled Worker, Nova Scotia Graduate, and Nova Scotia Express Entry—must pay an application fee of $1,000. Meanwhile, the fee for the Entrepreneur Stream is 2,000 Canadian dollars. This will come into effect from September 1.
The Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration stated that the fee is being introduced to make program management and assessment processes more efficient, as well as to ensure the quality of applications. However, there is currently no fee to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). Even if an applicant submitted an EOI prior to September 1, they will be required to pay the new fee if selected for assessment after that date.
On the other hand, those who received a selection letter before September 1 are exempt from this. Currently, the majority of provinces in Canada charge application fees.
