HALIFAX: The Macdonald Bridge, connecting Halifax and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, will be closed to all vehicular traffic this Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Halifax Harbour Bridges (HHB) has announced. The temporary closure is taking place to accommodate community events during the annual Natal Day weekend.
The morning kicks off at 10:00 a.m. with the annual “Harbour Hustle,” a one-mile run and walk that sees participants of all ages crossing from Halifax to Dartmouth. Prior registration is required for those taking part in the run.
Following the race, HHB will host “BRIDGEWALK 2026” from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Free and open to the public, the event allows community members to walk across the iconic suspension bridge at a leisurely pace.
Throughout the afternoon, the toll-free bridge deck will transform into a festive venue featuring live musical performances, entertainment, and various community stalls for visitors to explore.
