Cars stolen by thieves targeting women’s purses in locker rooms, RCMP say

PRINCE GEORGE (B.C.) — Local authorities have issued a strict warning following a series of consecutive thefts targeting women’s locker rooms at fitness centers in northern British Columbia. The Prince George RCMP stated that thieves are primarily targeting women’s bags left unattended or in unlocked lockers within communal changing rooms at local gyms and sports facilities.

In addition to stealing wallets and other valuable personal belongings, the Mounties confirmed in a statement that in two separate incidents, the victims’ cars were also stolen from the adjacent parking lots. The thieves are operating with a clear plan; they know exactly what they are looking for and how to acquire them, executing the crimes very quickly.

While the police investigation into these incidents is actively ongoing, law enforcement urged members of the public to remain highly vigilant and ensure their personal belongings are securely locked up in changing rooms.

The RCMP requested that anyone who has fallen victim to this type of theft but has not yet reported it, or anyone who experiences a similar incident moving forward, contact the police immediately. They added that such information is absolutely essential for identifying suspects and understanding the patterns and trends of these thefts.
