29-Year-Old Punjabi Woman Found Dead Under Mysterious Circumstances in Brampton

BRAMPTON – A 29-year-old woman from Punjab, identified as Pratibha Gupta, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her residence in Brampton. Originally from Ahmedgarh, Punjab, Pratibha was discovered unresponsive near the staircase of her home on Saturday. She had been living in Canada for the past three and a half years, working on a valid work permit.

The tragedy came to light after her family in India became concerned when repeated phone calls went unanswered. They had last spoken to her on Saturday afternoon, noting that she seemed cheerful and in high spirits. When they could no longer reach her, the family contacted her employer, who then alerted local authorities. Brampton police conducted a check of the residence and found her body; while initial reports suggest there were no visible signs of injury, the cause of death remains unconfirmed.

Pratibha was a highly educated individual, holding a Master’s degree in Mathematics. Before moving to Canada to work for a private transport company, she had served as a teacher in her home state. Her sudden passing has left her family devastated, and they are now seeking assistance from the Indian government to repatriate her body.

The family has reached out to local Member of Parliament Amar Singh, who is coordinating with the Ministry of External Affairs to expedite the necessary formalities. Meanwhile, Brampton police have launched a formal investigation, including a review of CCTV footage and a pending post-mortem report, to determine the exact circumstances surrounding her death.
