TTC Streetcar Derails at Queen and Coxwell; No Injuries Reported

A Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) streetcar derailed on Monday morning, January 26, 2026, at the intersection of Queen Street East and Coxwell Avenue, according to Toronto Police. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. Authorities have warned commuters and drivers to expect significant traffic delays in the area and have advised them to seek alternate routes while the scene is cleared.

TTC spokesperson Stuart Green stated that the primary focus is to safely return the streetcar to its tracks. While the exact cause of the derailment remains unclear, it occurred amid a historic winter storm that has blanketed the Greater Toronto Area with record-breaking snowfall. To minimize the impact on commuters, the TTC has deployed shuttle buses to assist passengers, and the 501 Queen streetcar has been temporarily diverted via Gerrard Street East.
