London, Ontario: Mayor Josh Morgan is intensifying pressure on the provincial government to enhance train travel facilities across Southwestern Ontario. Leading a coalition of representatives from Elgin, Middlesex, and Oxford counties, the City of London plans to present its formal demands to the Ford government during the upcoming Rural Ontario Municipalities Association (ROMA) conference in Toronto later this month.
The coalition’s primary objective is to secure more frequent passenger train services and faster travel times centered around London as a regional hub. Mayor Morgan highlighted a long-standing issue where passenger trains are frequently delayed because freight trains are given priority on the tracks. He emphasized that a permanent solution to this imbalance is necessary to ensure reliable service for residents.
