Three Women Arrested in Distraction Theft and Robbery Investigation

TORONTO – Three women have been arrested in connection with a series of robberies targeting the elderly across the city. The police have arrested Florentina Alexandru (44), Mirabela Lacatusu (27), and Florentina Alexandru (37), all residents of Toronto. The police investigation began following recent reports of a rise in robberies in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

Toronto Police state that the suspects worked together from July to early September 2025, stealing thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and other valuables. The women have been charged with multiple offenses. According to the police, such individuals typically approach the elderly in public places, offer assistance, and then steal their jewelry or other personal belongings.
