4.8 magnitude earthquake strikes off B.C. Coast

VANCOUVER: A 4.8 magnitude earthquake was reported near Bella Bella, British Columbia, by Earthquakes Canada. The quake occurred on Sunday morning at approximately 8:00 AM, but no damage has been reported and none is expected, the agency said. Bella Bella is located about 500 kilometers from Vancouver. The earthquake’s depth was recorded at 10 kilometers.

Environment and Climate Change Canada confirmed that no tsunami warning has been issued for the province’s coastal regions. According to Earthquakes Canada, earthquakes with a magnitude below 5.4 rarely cause damage.
